Seedlings coming along well so far ... runner beans, climbing and dwarf french beans, sweetcorn, cucumbers. Still awaiting an appearance from the tomatoes. The contingency plan is to go to the plant sale at the allotments on the 16th if I need anything else! Pleased with the cucumber plants, just showing their first true leaves. It's the first time I've tried pricking them out, and it seems to have worked.

The dreaded blight has struck for the second year running, so I have taken up all the tomatoes. It was open day at the allotments today and we went to do some weeding etc and support this year's charity, Victim Support Croydon. Met some interesting people and discussed allotmenteering in general. We currently have a waiting list of around 40, which is in stark contrast to just a few years back when I took on my plot and we had several vacant ones to choose from - I guess it really is the new rock 'n' roll! I put in some leeks, rather belatedly, and sowed some more radishes, rocket and salad leaves. Enjoyed some lukewarm tea and homemade cake, although decided to 'pass' on the courgette muffins! And yes, I did forget to take my camera ...

The second early potatoes haven't produced much this year, rather disappointingly, but once the rest of them have been dug I can get the leeks in.
Haven't been able to get to the plot today, but took the chilli plant over to grow in Dad's porch. Also took a couple of tomato plants to grow there, in case we have a repeat of last year's blight.
Decided not to cook anything with the courgettes tonight in view of the hot weather. They'll keep until tomorrow!
